Steven started with RT&T Enterprises, Inc. at the end of 2019, bringing with him over six years of driving experience running flatbed, step deck, tanker, and dry van. What he had never done before was enter into a Lease Purchase program. He was working pipeline and when the work slowed, he decided it was time to try something new. He liked the idea of being more independent as a driver and also being a business owner, so he started looking for a program. He was referred to RT&T by a current driver and spent time talking to that driver and learning about what RT&T had to offer.
After doing his research on leasing and running a business, Steven went into the program with open eyes and the determination to work hard and payoff his truck, which he accomplished a month early! When asked what role RT&T played in his completed lease, Steven mentioned the consistent freight and that RT&T was understanding in that this was his first lease, and were there to answer his questions, keep him informed, and help when needed. While there may have been some small issues with the company, RT&T was great to work with overall. His advice to new drivers wanting to lease is "Keep your eyes on the end goal, stay motivated, know what you're getting into, and don't let the low times get you down." He plans to stay with RT&T, now that his truck is paid off, and will set new goals for himself to reach.
Steven talked about the truck itself and how there were no major issues with the equipment - nothing more than regular items to tend to. He will continue to keep an escrow account set up, to save money for future repairs and maintenance needs, saying this is "100% a must" because if you don't plan ahead and save for truck needs, you are setting yourself up for failure. In working with RT&T Repair, Steven said the mechanics do great work, but they are very busy, so you need to schedule in advance when regular repairs and maintenance items are to be done.
RT&T would like to wish Steven continued success as an owner and congratulate him on completing his lease!
